Thesis Title: Confusing credentials: The cross-nationally comparable measurement of educational attainment

Anthony Heath

About

I completed my Master's in Sociology at the University of Cologne, Germany in 2005 (minors: Psychology and Philosophy) with a thesis entitled ‘Socio-economic position and anti-immigrant attitudes in Europe. An empirical study of the relationships between deprivation, competition and negative ethnic prejudice’. Then I studied for a DPhil at Nuffield College between 2005 and 2009, working on the cross-nationally comparable measurement of educational attainment for comparative survey research. For my post-doc I continue research in the evaluation of cross-national measures of educational attainment (with the EQUALSOC research team I co-ordinate) and move on to substantive research on educational inequalities, starting with a paper on upper secondary education in Germany.
